What do you want to do in your life?

You will get asked this question hundreds of times in your life, and your answer will always change. In the past I have wanted to be: a princess, a mommy, a spy, police woman, CSI agent, a chef, a writer, and a forensic anthropologist. I have found my calling engineering. When I grow up I want to be a chemical engineer; there will always be problems in the world that need to be solved (definition of engineering). So I joined my schools engineering team, today we had a meeting to figure out our team's name for the FIRST competition. We will be Spectrum! It took us 2 hours to come up with that. I have never appreciated the creators of a business as much as I do today. People probably thought the name Apple was insane the first time they heard it. This was our issue, we had names like: Terra-bot, Team Rollout, Pangia, Kitty Litter, Speed Racist, WE= M.C. hammer ^2, i^2: we just got real, Fusion. These all sound crazy but when you look at the names of the other teams like: MOE, Cheesy Poofs, Disco-bots, Cyberwolves; we will fit in. Our theme is going to be black lights, glow-in-the-dark, and color changing objects. I can't wait until FIRST season kick-off! This will be a long stressful journey.

The Joys of Being a Cat Lover

My family owns 4 cats: Kali, Ned, Tiger Lily, and Oliver, they were all rescued. Oliver the youngest and most recent addition to our family came to us about a year ago when my older sister, different sister than the one in the earlier post, volunteered at an animal shelter. He came in as a feral little kitten who only liked women. He would sit on my sister's lap when she would type on the computer, they became attached. She tried her hardest to make him social and able to adopt, but when the summer ended and she was ready to go back to school he was still not adoptable. He was to be put asleep. On the morning of her last day volunteering she came crying to our parents, who are strong animal lovers, to allow her to adopt this little kitten. She was so upset that my parents made a deal with her, at the end of summer she would get him back. It is now a year and a half later and Oliver is now my cat, he became attached to me and my sister did not want to cause him stress. He is my best friend, he comforts me when I cry, keeps me warm at night, and never lets me be bored. I swear he thinks he is a dog because he fetches little mice toys and hair-ties. He does wake me up at night wanting to play fetch but I deal with it because I know he loves me. For the last week he has been throwing up everywhere! (No this story does not get sad; he is alive and is laying next to me sleeping) I have woken up twice because he has thrown up in my bed, last night for instance. I have stepped in puke more times than I want to admit. My friends find it funny when I text them saying that I will be late because my cat won't stop throwing up everywhere, he gets scared and runs. We are not sure what is wrong with him but are keeping a close eye on him. This has been my life.

Books Save Lives

In this case the life that was saved was mine. I was a depressed little 7th grader with medical issues lost in a world were no maps exist, when my older sister gave me a book. That book was Twilight (place I have allotted for everyone to judge me for 7 seconds; yes 7 because 5 is too main stream and I didn't want to do 10, 7. . . 6. . . 5. . . 4. . . 3. . . 2. . . 1. . . 0). It was not the subject or theme of the book that saved me or the reason why I am so thankful for it, it's because Twilight was the first teen book that I had ever read. It opened up a whole world for me to explore, to get my mind off of real life and into the lives of the characters in the books. Since it was my first book I did become one of those crazy teens with the life-sized Edward Cullen standing poster (its staring at me now ._. ), but I got over it and started to explore different books in different categories. I am now 16. I have 2 full book shelves in my room. I still have medical issues and am depressed. But now I am fine, what happens happens and I have a life ahead of me and good books to read.
